Zoo Ave

Today we went to the Zoo.  Some of our gringo friends and their kids came with us.  It was fun.  It was a good size zoo.  Just big enough to see a bunch of animals but not so big that we were all worn out by the time we were done.
After we saw the animals [...]

Highlighs Tour

Yesterday for our date day we did a highlights tour of Costa Rica. We’ve done this tour once before a few years ago.
The day started early (4:30am). We had to meet up at a hotel with the group at 6:30.
The tour was 11-12 hours and it went to a coffee farm where we [...]

Xandari

Yesterday was date day for us (the day my wife and I set aside for just us… the kids go to a babysitter… or in this case are left home with their nanny and we go out and spend the day with each other.)
Back in Utah, we usually just have a date night. That’s because [...]

Horseback Riding

On the 17th James and I went horseback riding in…um…Marc Anthony? Well, James put it better on his blog. Here’s what he had to say….
“As you read this, I am horseback riding in the beautiful national park of Manuel Antonio on the Pacific Coast of Costa Rica.
It is a small park with white [...]

We're back in heaven…I mean Costa Rica

We made it safe and sound back to Costa Rica.  The boys did pretty good on the plane too.  The weather here is GREAT!!  It’s been 75-80 degrees during the day and 65-70 at night.
It’s been nice to be back in the house since we’ve been in hotels so much the last month.  (Because of [...]

We're Back

Yesterday we arrive back in the states.  It was a very long day.  To keep it short our first flight was five hours but we were on the plane for nine hours.  The second flight was fine.  Thankfully the boys were awsome!!  They are such good kids!

Halloween in Costa Rica

Last night we went to a Halloween Party at our friends place, the Neumann’s. We had hot dogs and cupcakes for dinner. Then I put the boys’ costumes on. Peter was a puppy and Jimmy was a bird. (I made those costumes by the way.)
We then put adults in all the [...]

Le Monastère

This last week we’ve gone to Le Monastère three different times for dinner.
It’s an upscale restaurant in Escazu. It used to be a monastery. After being abandoned it was turned into a restaurant.
If you ever go there they have an amazing Au Gratin Asparagus!
Here’s a few pictures.

Moving

This weekend I moved our stuff from the Villa’s to our new rental. (For full story of the new rental click here.) Our “moving truck” was the double stoller for most loads. All but one load.
I was going to take a load to the house and Marcela asked to take the boys [...]

Horseback Riding

Today we took the boys to a place near Jaco to go horseback riding. (James thinks that’s a funny thing to call it. “What other part of the horse are you going to ride?” he says.)
There was also a handful a other farm animals that they let the boys pet and feed. [...]

Today I was out front with Jimmy and Peter. Jimmy was playing with Wilder and his Dad Chris (they’re just across from us).
I was sitting on the grass with Peter and Chris points out a green parrot that was flying over head.
A few minutes later the parrot landed on may head. It was only there [...]

Long-Term Rental

Yesterday we signed papers for a long-term rental here in Costa Rica. It was a different experience then we were anticipating. The rental is only $300 a month so we thought we would pay a few months in advance and shake the guys hand. That wasn’t the case. We were at [...]

We Have A New Nanny!

We hired a new nanny on Tuesday (the 18th). She is awesome! The kids love her.
Her name is Marcela, she’s 18 and speaks mostly spanish, but she’s learning english. We actually keep a laptop in the kitchen and have Google translate opened all the time so we can communicate. It works [...]

Pictures

On Saturday the 8th we took the boys to the mall and rode the Merry-go-round for awhile. Something weird happened and I’m not sure what to make of it. We got ice cream and later some pizza but when we fed some to the kids people were shocked or maybe amazed. I [...]
